about

A myth unites what appears distinct to the modern mind. This is the myth of Hor the fatherless son of his mother Yam. And like all mythology, it is only the consolidation of surviving fragments of previous myths fertilized with contemporary thought and synthesis. The myth of Hor is an eternal story happening simultaneously in both the internal realm of the psychological and the external one of civilizational forces and their cycles. Hor is both a patron saint of the bodiless creatives who recreate their lost bodies with the parcels of their creation, and a prophet king to those who fight for the liberation of their collective selves from grand forces of domination. Hor is a creation, but Hor is also quiet really out there in reality. Herein lays the Egyptian Horus, the Canaanite Yam, Jesus of Nazareth, Mohammad of Hijaz, but also Jacques Lacan, James Joyce, Frantz Fanon, Carl Jung, etc....
And as conceptually as technically, this album is sonically built around almost pure sampling in its granular fragmented form and its colorful richness of sound. With an inherent hommage to the likes of J DIlla, Nujabes, and Madlib the albums was made from tape cassettes, to also sound like an archeological piece from a future-past. Written hymns were created to detail the story, some of them were indeed included in the recordings and most others kept to release later, as part of a consistent body of writing revolving and detailing the myth behind the music.
